The case of Germany

The Cologne Institute of Economic Research analysed current forms of entrepreneurship in Germany. As far as public discussion and academic research are concerned, it should be noted that within the last ten years one-person enterprises and the transfer of business ownership have become a particular subject of investigation and debate. Part-time entrepreneurs have also been implicitly covered by studies and articles dealing with female entrepreneurs. Businesswomen and start-ups launched by them differ in many respects from their male counterparts. The analysis was undertaken on behalf of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, headquartered in Dublin.
