For refugees and immigrants to be integrated into society, it is particularly important that they be integrated into the labour market.
Unlike their level of formal education, it is very difficult to monitor immigrants' German language skills and there is always a degree of uncertainty about their measurement. For this reason, the relationship between language skills and wages and unemployment was analysed using three different sets of data.
The influence on a company’s success of cultural diversity within its workforce depends on the wider context. Cultural variety in itself is neither solely beneficial nor detrimental. This is the result of an empirical analysis of Linked-Employer Employee data for Germany about the interaction between culturally diverse groups in firms and its (possible) influence on gross value added.
