Cologne Headquarters

In 2009, the Cologne Institute for Economic Studies (IW) moved from the outskirts to the centre of Cologne. Our new location at Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer 21 is in the St Cunibert district in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. The building was designed by the renowned Cologne architect Thomas van den Valentyn. Just under two thirds of the office space is taken up by the IW, the remaining area being occupied by a law firm.

Visitors will find the new IW headquarters easy to reach. There are connections to all forms of public transport at the nearby main railway station and its underground tram stop. Roads leading directly to the motorway network are only a short distance away. Cologne/Bonn Airport can be reached in about 15 minutes. Anyone calling in at the IW should also pay a visit to the neighbouring basilica of St Cunibert. The church was finished in the mid-13th century and is the only one of Cologne’s many Romanesque churches to have been completed in a single style. Dating from 1230, its windows are considered masterpieces of stained glass.
